Dixon lands athletic wing forward

University of Pittsburgh Head Basketball Coach Jamie Dixon has just landed his first verbal commitment for the class of 2007. Darnell Dotson (6-foot-6 inches, 180 pounds) from Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, MD has opted to commit to the Panthers over a number of scholarship offers.

The PantherDigest.com has verified that wing forward Darnell Dotson (6-foot-6 inches, 180 pounds) from Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, MD has verbally committed to the University of Pittsburgh.

Dotson chose the Panthers over offers from Georgetown, Boston College and Virginia Tech. Last season he emerged as one of Maryland's top players. Darnell averaged 15.6 points, 8 rebounds, 2.9 steals and 2.8 assists per game for the state Class 4A finalists.

Dotson is a member the AAU D.C. Assault. Coach (Jamie) Dixon and his revamped coaching staff are in hot pursuit of Darnell's AAU teammate Anthony McClain. The 7-0 245 pound McClain is considered one of the top centers in the nation.
