Branden Curry ponders his future

University of Pittsburgh Head Football Coach Dave Wannstedt is looking to add a pair of large and athletic offensive tackles to the Panthers' class of 2007. Pitt has extended an offer to blue-chip prospect from Lauderdale Lakes, FL. The recently spoke with this prospect about his future.

"I have scholarship offers from Pittsburgh, South Carolina, Florida and Florida International," stated towering offensive tackle Branden Curry (6-foot-5 inches, 300 pounds) from Boyd H. Anderson High School in Lauderdale Lakes, FL. "The offer from Florida hasn't come in writing yet. Pittsburgh offered early and I have a lot of interest in them."

Curry was a first-team All-County selection as a junior. He went the entire season without allowing a sack. Brandon has primarily played right tackle.

"I want to go to a school that offers playing time. I know it's tough to start as a freshman but I'm willing to push for a job. I won't attend a small school. I believe that larger schools let me you meet a lot more people. I want to go to a school with a diverse student base. The coaching staff will be important to. I want to feel comfortable with them."

Branden attended summer camps at Florida State, South Carolina and Florida. "Pittsburgh is one of the schools I haven't been to yet. I really liked the camps I went to. Florida and South Carolina do a lot of pass blocking and that's what I do best," he stated. "I know Pittsburgh wants to run the ball. I'm willing to take a strong look at their offense. It looks like they may offer the most playing time."

Curry is capable of bench pressing 340 pounds and running the forty-yard dash in 5.3 seconds. Pitt is currently recruiting Branden's teammate Josh Bynes. ranks Bynes a four-star recruit and the 9th best linebacker in the nation.

"I don't know exactly when I'm going to make a decision. If I wait a little, I feel confident that more offers will come my way. Florida State seems to be close. Pittsburgh was one of my first offers and I want to take a closer look."

"Pittsburgh is still in the mix. Right now, they would be neck and neck with South Carolina. I won't make a decision until I see all the schools that offered me."

Recruiting Note: The University of Pittsburgh has already received verbal commitments from two offensive tackles: Dan Matha (6-foot-7 inches, 310 pounds) from McDowell High School in Erie, PA and John Fieger (6-foot-5 inches, 285 pounds) from Upper Perkiomen High School in Pennsburg, PA. Although the Panthers coaching staff appears to be finished recruiting tackles, the staff at the believe that an exception would be made for a player of Curry's caliber.
