Miles Beatty talks Pitt

University of Pittsburgh Head Coach Jamie Dixon and his revamped coaching staff has been aggressively recruiting over the summer. One of the top shooting guards in the nation talks highly of the Pitt Panthers. Read on for details.

"I have scholarship offers from St. Johns, Maryland, Rutgers and George Washington," stated touted shooting guard Miles Beatty (6-foot-1 inches, 195 pounds) from St. Anthony High School in Newark, NJ. Beatty is considered one of the top players in the state of New Jersey. Last season, he led the Friars to a 25-3 record averaging 12 points per game. "There are a lot of schools close to offering me a scholarship. I'm staying patient and seeing what happens."

"People have told me I could play point guard but my natural position is the "2" (shooting guard). I'm a pure scorer. I can put points on the board." ranks Beatty a "three-star" prospect the 26th best shooting guard in the nation.

When asked about his strengths, he stated, "I play to win. I want to be successful and make people around me successful. I'm a great scorer and a strong finisher."

"I'm a pure shooter and I believe in my ability to put points on the boards. Right now I'm working on all aspects of my game like passing and defense. My scoring ability is always going to be there, I want the rest of my game to catch up."

Beatty believes he's a Big East Caliber player and appears enamored with the conference. He was quick to comment on the Pitt Panther program. "I would love to play for Pittsburgh," he said. "They have been very good in the Big East and I think my style of play fits in with what they do there. Hopefully they will come through with an offer."

Miles currently plays for the AAU Westchester Hawks. He recently took part in Reebok's ABCD camp where he averaged 11 points and 3 rebounds per game.

"I haven't been able to visit any schools over the summer. Hopefully I can take some visits soon. I'm very interested in the Panthers. We'll see how things turn out."
