Milford to Pitt for Aundre Wright

Pitt Head Football Coach Dave Wannstedt has been vigilant about improving the Panthers overall team speed. Few players are faster than former Perry Traditional Academy (Pittsburgh, PA) standout Aundre Wright. The recently spoke with Wright about his future plans.

Aundre Wright (5-foot-9 ½ inches, 185 pounds) was known for one particular characteristic at Perry Traditional Academy in Pittsburgh, PA. He was known for his blistering speed on the football field. An athlete capable of recording a consistent 4.3 forty-yard dash, Wright was an impressive wide receiver and kick returner. He has been compared to current Washington Redskin wide receiver Santana Moss.

The coaching staff at the University of Pittsburgh was highly interested in Wright. It appeared he was set to join the Panthers' Class of 2006 until he was unable to qualify academically. Wright opted to attend Milford Academy in New Berlin, NY.

"I really like it here at Milford," stated Wright. "I feel like I have already matured as a person and player. They don't fool around here. We do a lot of running and working out. It's a football-focused environment. People talked about my speed before. I feel even faster now."

"I struggled in the ninth and tenth grade. I realized how important grades were the older I got but I simply couldn't catch up. I have really focused here and I'm set to leave here in December with a much improved grade point average."

When asked his thoughts on the Pitt Panthers, he was quick to proclaim, "I want to play for Pitt. There is no number on my mind right now. I want to be a Panther."

"I have kept in touch with the coaching staff at Pitt. It looks like I'll join the Panthers after the season. I hope nothing changes those plans."

Milford Academy opens their season agaist Hudson Valley Community College on August 27th . Wright expects to be the Falcons starting wide receiver. He proclaimed, "Not to brag or anything, but I believe I'm the best wide receiver on the team."
