Is Rash in the Panthers Plans?

Joe Rash is part of a talent laden group at Penn Hills High and will take over as the focal point of the defensive pass rush this season. This week he added his second offer and made a trip to Pittsburgh to catch a practice.

Joe Rash made a visit to Pittsburgh today to meet with coaches and watch a team practice. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound defensive end talked to Scout.com tonight about that visit and also let us know that he had added another offer.

"I sat down with defensive line Coach (Greg Gattuso) today for a team meeting," Rash said. "After that Coach (Bob) Junko showed me around the indoor facilities which were really nice. I got to sit down and watch the teams afternoon practice and learn a bit about how things work around there."

"I'm optimistic that if I perform well in my first few games that I'll have an offer from Pittsburgh at the end of September," Rash explained.

The Panthers hosted a number of 2007 and 2008 recruits at practice on Thursday including Rash who currently holds an offer from Akron and Buffalo. The Pittsburgh, Pa. standout added the offer from Buffalo this week. As a junior Rash recorded seven sacks for the Indians. Pittsburgh is in the hunt for a number of defensive ends from Florida and elsewhere, depending upon how things shake out and what kind of senior season Rash has will depend on if the hometown team pulls the trigger or not.
