Moore anticipates December visit to Pitt

There's a saying in football that "speed kills". The Panthers have offered a scholarship to Da'Von Moore from Brentwood High School in Pittsburgh, PA. Moore, known for his blazing speed, is set to visit Pitt in December. He recently spoke with the

"I'm excited about Friday," stated Da'von Moore (5-foot-11 inches, 210 pounds) from Brentwood High School in Pittsburgh, PA. "We play Jeanette (10-1) in the next round of the playoffs. I can't wait for the game. Our entire team is excited.

Brentwood High School (10-1) defeated Seton LaSalle High School (9-2) last week to advance in the WPIAL Class AA playoffs. Moore intercepted a pass on the opening drive of the game and returned it for a touchdown.

"I'm mostly looking at Pitt, Toledo and Akron. I'm set to visit the Panthers on December 1st," said Moore. "I visit Akron the following week on December 8th."

"I really like Pitt. It's close to home and I still believe the program is going to turn the corner. Coach (Bob) Junko has been recruiting me for a while. I owe it to take a close look at all of the programs after me but I like Pitt a lot."

Moore is a rare combination of size and speed. At a solid 210 pounds, he's capable of running the forty-yard dash in 4.3 seconds. Pitt, Toledo and Akron have extended scholarship offers. Da'von reports that a number of Big East and Big Ten schools stay in close contact with him.

"Pitt wants me in the secondary. I probably would end up at safety. I'm very aggressive, strong and I have speed for my size. I won't have any problems offering run support. I'm strong at bump and run coverage as well. I can shut down a wide receiver if I have to."

When asked if was under-recruited due his impressive size and speed, he stated, "I think so, but I don't worry about that stuff. My performance on the field speaks for itself."

"My focus is on getting our team to a championship right now, but I'm excited about visiting Pitt in December."
