Zach Brown excited about visit to Pitt

The University of Pittsburgh football team continues to search for quality running back prospects. One of the top tailbacks from the state of Florida is set to visit Pitt this weekend. The PantherDigest.com spoke with Zach Brown about his upcoming visit.

"Coach (Charlie) Partridge was at my house last night," stated bruising running back Zacchaeus Brown (5-foot-11 inches, 200 pounds) from Royal Palm High School in Royal Palm Beach, FL. "He was able to show my parents everything about Pitt. He showed them everything he had reviewed with me already. I thought coach did a great job. I'm visiting Pitt on my own this weekend."

Royal Palm High School lost in the second round of the playoffs and finished the season with an outstanding 10-2 record. Brown rushed for over 1,200 yards and scored 19 touchdowns. He averaged 10 yards per carry.

"I called Minnesota and canceled my visit. I'm down to Pitt and Wisconsin. I visited Wisconsin earlier this year (10/6)."

Scout.com ranks Brown the 65th best running back in the nation and a "three-star" prospect.

"I'm excited to get to Pittsburgh, I arrive there on Friday. I want to see what their team chemistry is like and I want to get to know the coaches better. Academics are really important to me as well."

Brown rushed for 650 yards on 83 carries as a junior. He was a three-year starter at running back for the Wildcats. Zacchaeus is capable of running a 4.55 forty-yard dash and squatting 400 pounds.

Brown is considered a leader on and off the field. He has an outstanding 3.4 grade point average. Scouts have labeled Zach a "powerful north-south runner". Panthers Assistant Coach Charlie Partridge has been his primary contact.

"I can't wait to get there this weekend and get to know the Pitt program better. I have liked Pitt for a while. It's going to be great meeting Coach Wannstedt."
