Jabaal Sheard Recruiting Update

The University of Pittsburgh recently hosted Jabaal Sheard, one of the top defensive ends from the state of Florida. He recently finished his second official visit. The PantherDigest.com spoke with Jabaal about his recruiting status and his thoughts on Pitt.

"I just returned from an official visit to Rutgers. It was nice," stated defensive end Jabaal Sheard (6-foot-4 inches, 240 pounds) from Hollywood Hills High School in Hollywood, FL. "I have visited Pittsburgh and Rutgers. I'll be heading to Auburn on January 12th and South Carolina on January 19th."

Scout.com ranks Sheard a "three-star" prospect and the 35th best defensive end in the nation. He registered 28 tackles and 8 sacks a junior.

"I really had a great time when I visited Pittsburgh. It was much more than what I first expected. The City of Pittsburgh was nice as well."

When asked to compare his visits to Pitt and Rutgers, he stated, "I liked them both. Both are city schools with a great college atmosphere. I like the coaches and facilities at both schools. They are both great schools that offer academic support. That's important to me."

Jabaal is capable of bench pressing 370 pounds and running the forty-yard dash in 4.6 seconds. He has been a two-year starter for Hollywood Hills High School. Panthers Assistant Charlie Partridge has been his primary contact. Sheard has received scholarship offers from Pitt, Rutgers, South Carolina, Alabama and Minnesota.

"I want to cover all of my bases and take my four visits. Once I'm done I'll sit down and compare all of the schools. This is an important decision and I just want to be confident when I make it."

Sheard has registered 45 tackles and 12 sacks this season.

Jabaal finalized his thoughts by stating, "I keep in touch with Coach (Charlie) Partridge. I could easily see myself playing for Pitt. They need defensive ends and they have a lot of players from Florida on their team."
