Murdock is a Panther

Losing a cornerback like Darrelle Revis is always going to hurt a team on the field and in the locker room, but in recruiting it actually has helped Pitt. It helped them seal the deal today on a talented Florida corner.

Sherod Murdock,a three-star prospect from Middleton High in Tampa, Fla., has decided that he will play his college ball for the University of Pittsburgh and Panthers head coach Dave Wannstedt.

Pittsburgh's newest staff member and former Alabama assistant Chris Ball paid early dividends and helped his new team land's No. 78 rated cornerback prospect.

"Coach (Chris) Ball and coach (Aubrey) Hill were big reason why I chose Pittsburgh," Murdock said. "I also spoke to (Darrelle) Revis and I know Pitt has had a lot of very good defensive backs go to the league the last few years." Murdock chose the Panthers over Alabama, Kansas, South Carolina and Ole Miss. As a senior, murdock was named First-Team Class AAAA All-State, after registering 60 tackles, 11 passes defended, four interceptions and five touchdowns.
