Focus '08: Quentin Williams

Quentin Williams needs only take a short walk to get on campus at Pittsburgh, so it's only natural that the Central Catholic product has some familiarity with the Panther program. Today he took the latest in many visits for junior day and was just impressed as any other time he'd been on campus.

Quentin Williams, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound tight end has been on campus at Pittsburgh many times before. He currently holds one offer from Colorado and is being recruited by over a dozen other Division I programs, but today he made the trip across the street for junior day.

"I work out at the facilities on a daily basis and really like them," Williams explained. "My brother Nate was recruited by Pittsburgh and I actually went with him when he attended their junior day, so this was actually my second time through the event. Coach (Greg) Gattuso and Coach (Dave) Wannstedt said that they had recently viewed my film and were thinking of offering me. I get along really well with Coach Gattuso and really was treated well by everyone on the visit."

"As for the basketball game, I stayed until halftime, but had to leave for baseball practice at that point," Williams said. "It looked like the arena was sold out and it was pretty crazy there, but I expected that having been to many games before today. Even though I'm already really familiar with the campus and everything I'd still rate the visit a 9 out of 10."

As mentioned, Williams is also being courted by over a dozen schools and was extended his first offer from Colorado. Among those schools contacting him at this point are Ohio State, Notre Dame, Louisville, Northwestern and Nebraska.

"Coach (Darian) Hagan recruits me at Colorado and I really like him. I've talked to some guys from this area he's recruited before and they all have great things to say about him. I don't know much about Colorado, but I know it's in a big growth city and have heard the area is beautiful. They've offered me and said they're recruiting two tight ends this year. I have a junior day invite from them and will try to visit them as soon as possible."

As a junior, Williams caught 22 passes for 424 yards and 6 touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball he added 42.5 tackles, with 13.5 coming for a loss, 8.5 sacks and two quarterback hurries. Williams was named first team All-Conference by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
