Caputo Takes a Visit

After giving high marks to his unofficial visit to West Virginia in December, Unionville, Pa., product Steve Caputo had a high bar set going to junior day at Pittsburgh this weekend. As things turned out, WVU isn't the only school that he's now high on.

Steve Caputo, a 6-foot-4, 315-pound offensive guard from Unionville High has really only expressed interest in Penn State and West Virginia to this point, but Pittsburgh is now a definite player.

"The visit went really well and it was a lot like West Virginia in terms of the type of people I met," Caputo explained. "I got to meet with Coach (Dave) Wannstedt and he is absolutely huge. The guy is like 6-foot-6 and towered over me! All the coaches like Coach Wannstedt, Coach (Paul) Dunn and Coach (Matt) Cavanaugh all had plenty of time for us and actually chilled out with the group a bit."

"There were only about ten linemen there and I was almost the biggest guy there," Caputo said. "I think the only two bigger then me were Lucas Nix and the Jewhan Edwards kid from Roman Catholic. He wasn't very tall, but he was really thick. We went up with Matt Carroll and his family and his dad was joking around with the staff the whole time because they all played together at Pitt."

"The best part was towards the end of the visit when we went to the basketball game. They pulled up four buses and we had a police escort to the game, which was pretty tight. We sat in the front row next to Coach Dunn which was awesome. Pittsburgh is right up there in my top three now and I'd give the visit an 8 out of 10."

Caputo will be making the trip for junior day at Northwestern next week and then plans for a return trip to Morgantown for their junior day event.
