The University of Pittsburgh has 48 letterwinners returning for this season, including 15 starters. There are eight coming back on offense, six on defense and place-kicker Conor Lee.
Pitt will hold its annual media day session Aug. 6, while camp is set to run from Tuesday, Aug. 7 through Friday, Aug. 24. Third-year coach Dave Wannstedt will put the Panthers through double practice sessions on eight days and hold three intrasquad scrimmages.
After holding two practices per day from Aug. 7-10, Pitt will assemble in full gear for a Saturday, Aug. 11 workout. On Aug. 14, the Panthers will practice twice, but the later one will actually be a scrimmage beginning at 3:30 p.m. The Aug. 18 scrimmage gets under way at 10:45 a.m., while the Aug. 22 one begins at 3:30 p.m. All three scrimmages are at the UPMC Sports Complex.
Pitt has two practices on Aug. 16, its seventh such day in camp, but has just one two-a-day scheduled thereafter. The annual FanFest event is Thursday, Aug. 23, from 6-9:15 p.m. at Heinz Field. Camp ends Aug. 24 with a night practice from 6:30 to 8:30 at the UPMC Sports Complex.
The Panthers begin their regular-season practice week Monday, Aug. 27 and open the season with Eastern Michigan Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. at Heinz Field.
