Pead Interested In Pitt

Columbus, Ohio product Isaiah Pead rushed for 1700 yards as a junior on his way to being named the Division IV Player of the Year for the state of Ohio and is currently on pace to absolutely destroy those numbers during his senior campaign. While he has yet to schedule any official visits we did get in touch with him recently to find out what his thoughts are on the Pittsburgh program.

Isaiah Pead now holds 24 written scholarship offers from programs all over the country and the 5-foot-11, 188-pound athlete from Eastmoor Academy High School will have the opportunity to play on either side of the ball when he hits the collegiate level given his combination of size, speed and athleticism. While he has yet to officially narrow his list or schedule visits, he did take some time to walk us through some of the programs at the top of his list right now.

"Right now I am really looking at Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Louisville, Cincinnati, Maryland, Ohio State, Indiana and Illinois," Pead explained. "I probably won't make my decision until signing day and don't plan on taking any official visits until after my senior season. The one program on that list I have not heard from in a long time is Ohio State, so I don't know what is going on there right now."

"The coaching staff at Pittsburgh told me that if I came there I would have my choice to play either offense or defense," Pead stated. "I think if given the choice I'd rather play offense at running back or wide receiver, but we'll see. Coach (Chris) Ball and I are pretty close, but we have been playing a ton of phone tag recently. He seems like a good coach and also comes off as the type of person you can talk to as a friend which I really like. I also think it would be cool to get a little taste of the NFL everyday since they share facilities with the Steelers, but that is really all I know until I can take a visit there."

Pead and his teammates are off to a 6-0 start and are playing for the city championship on Friday night. So far he has carried the ball 84 times for 1207 yards and 27 touchdowns and has also intercepted four passes from his free safety position. Pead scored a 16 on his ACT, but plans to take it again on October 27th.
