Lots of Recruiting Calls

Running back talks up his in-state team, the Panthers

At 6-feet and 215 pounds, running back Austin Sykes is still waiting for his first scholarship offer, but several schools are still calling him. "I still talk to coaches from Iowa, Virginia, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, and Syracuse," he said. "And I talked to Miami a few months ago. They basically said they will be waiting on my tape and to enjoy my season. But I haven't heard from them in awhile." Sykes is currently recovering from an ankle injury. "I stretched some ligaments and then tried playing on it when I shouldn't have," he said. "I'm hoping I can come back next week." In two games "and five plays", Sykes has 505 yards and six touchdowns on 50 carries. Sykes will be taking the SAT on Saturday.

"I haven't really thought about recruiting too much," he said. "I'm kind of wide open and will need to talk to my parents about my visits and all that. I also like Notre Dame too but I'm considering the ones that still call. I also like N.C. State. One of my coaches is from there and he has good things to say about it."

Sykes also talked about the in-state Panthers. "I like them too. They're having a real good season."
