McKenna Impressed By Pitt

Three-star JUCO signal caller A.J. McKenna hasn't picked up his first scholarship offer yet, but this week could change things for him in that department when the Pittsburgh coaching staff decides whether they will extend him one. After speaking with him recently the Panthers should be picking up their next commitment if they do decide to invite McKenna on board.

A.J. Mckenna, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound quarterback from Lackawanna College in Lackawanna, Pa., is being recruited by Boston College, North Carolina State and Rutgers most intensely right now and this past weekend he took a trip to Pittsburgh to see what the game-time atmosphere is like at Heinz Field. McKenna came away extremely impressed by the Panthers program and spoke with us about it this week.

"It was a great visit and I liked the atmosphere during the game because the fans were really live even though they lost," McKenna explained. "Pittsburgh is a big city with a lot of opportunity and I grew up a Steelers fan, so it was great to be on the field that they play on and get to see the locker rooms and everything."

"One thing that impressed me was that the players never gave up on the game despite the score and that they all treated me like I was already one of their own," McKenna added. "I am pretty sure that Pittsburgh is going to offer me and if they do I think I will probably commit on the spot. The staff said they would be telling me this week if I have an offer or not, so I am excited to hear what they have to say."

This season McKenna threw for 1600 yards and 19 touchdowns to only two interceptions while leading his team to a 7-3 record. He also rushed for 400 yards and five touchdowns.
