Anxious To Get To Pitt

Greater Johnstown High School put up a 7-3 record this season, but fell short on points, just missing the Pennsylvania state playoffs. Pittsburgh commitment Antwuan Reed was disappointed about that, however he is definitely looking forward to tossing on his Panther uniform and getting to work in 2008.

Antwuan Reed committed to Pittsburgh long ago, but since then we haven't heard much from the 5-foot-10, 170-pound cornerback. Recently we caught up with the Johnstown, Pa., resident to see how his official visit to Pittsburgh went in December as he prepares to visit again this weekend.

"My official visit went really well," Reed stated. "Being around all of the players was great because I really got a good feel for the guys I'll be going to school with and spending the next several years around. I hung out with a bunch of the current commitments like Mike Cruz, Greg Cross and Jonathan Baldwin, among others and we had a lot of fun together."

"There is definitely some chemistry building already inside this class," Reed explained. "We went up to Dave and Busters during the trip and had a lot of fun there and then to tell you the truth we just did a lot of eating. I got to meet with the coaching staff and talk to guys like Coach Dave Wannstedt and Coach Greg Gattuso during the visit and just feel like the staff is full of good people. The team is full of young players and things are really starting to come together, so I'm excited about the future at Pitt."

We asked Reed what he has been doing to keep himself occupied.

"It's been tough because I'm just ready to get out of high school and get on campus at Pittsburgh," Reed said. "I love it up there and this last semester feels so far away at this point. I've been playing some basketball for the school to keep myself occupied and stay in shape and then when the season is over I plan on focusing on my footwork and transition mostly. I'll also be trying to add as much muscle mass as I can before next year."

Reed says he does not talk to most of the recruits, but does keep a steady dialogue going with future teammate Mike Cruz.
