Carraway Spends Extra Time at Pitt

Pittsburgh has already picked up four solid prospects for their passing game in Jonathan Baldwin, Mike Cruz and Michael Shanahan, but they are also still high on the list of Muhlenberg, Pa., standout Vaughn Carraway. This weekend the wideout traveled to Pitt for his official visit and while he has been on campus before, he was still impressed by his latest visit.

After grabbing a huge pickup in Jonathan Baldwin last week the Pittsburgh Panthers are looking to nail down some more speed to line up across from him in their pro-style offense. That player could very well be Vaughn Carraway, a 6-foot-2, 170-pound wide receiver that caught 50 passes for 830 yards and 14 touchdowns for Muhlenberg High School this past season.

"The visit went well and I had a lot of fun out there," Carraway said. "I actually just got back from the visit at 3:30 pm this afternoon (Sunday) because I was spending some extra time talking to the coaching staff. The coaches are all really cool out there and they said they think I'd fit in really well in their type of offense. I tend to agree with them because they do a lot of passing and then have a great running game to compliment it and keep defenses honest."

Carraway also spent a lot of time learning about the academic side of things at Pitt.

"I met with the chancellor and a few members of the academic staff," Carraway stated. "They just walked me through was school would be like and what classes I would be taking if I pursued the major I like which is sports management. They talked to me a lot about the type of academic support I would be getting and thoroughly explained everything to me which was really helpful."

This wasn't the first time Carraway had been on campus, so nothing was really new to him, however he still claimed to really enjoy his time this weekend.

"My host was Oderick Turner who was a cool guy and spent time showing me around campus and the city," Carraway explained. "I got to hang out with some of the players there and we all had a good time. I've been out there plenty of times as my cousin went to Pitt, so I know it well. Right now they are definitely up there and in the running going forward."

Carraway will make his next official visit this upcoming weekend to Michigan, a trip he is very excited about. He has yet to speak with the new coaching staff in Ann Arbor.
