Andrew Fitzgerald is putting up huge numbers for Owings Mills this season. caught up with the talented big man to find out about the latest in his recruitment.

Andrew Fitzgerald drew the attention of high majors coaches this year. The 6-foot-8, 245-pound post prospect nearly averaged a triple-double and led Owings Mills (Md.) High to a bye in the first round of the state playoffs. "I've played good," Fitzgerald said. "I've been helping my team a lot with rebounding. I'm averaging 22 points, 18 rebounds and 7 blocks a game. So I'm helping them on both ends of the floor."

Not only is he helping his high school team, but also he's helping his stock among college coaches. He's has Pittsburgh and Marquette showing heavy interest in him, with a host of other schools involved.

"Everything is good with the recruiting process," Fitzgerald said. "A lot of schools are interested in me and are coming to see me play and work out."

"Pittsburgh is showing very high interest. I think they are going to offer me when I go on my visit March 9th. Marquette is coming at me very heavy and are calling me once a month and asking about my game and they want me to come there for a visit."

Maryland, Kentucky, Penn State, Xavier, Seton Hall and Washington State are also in the mix for the four-star prospect.

"Most of the teams that are recruiting me are coming at me pretty heavy," Fitzgerald said. "I want to keep all of my options open."

"My top five right now would be Pittsburgh, University of Kentucky, Washington State, Maryland and Seton Hall."

Other than his visit to Pittsburgh, Fitzgerald doesn't have any other trips set up. He does plan to take a few more visits this spring and summer in between playing AAU ball with Team Melo.
