Happy Easter From Panther Digest

While the Easter season is a good time to reflect, the future should be bright for Pitt athletics, and Panther Digest will be there to report all the news.

The Pitt Pro Day is Monday morning, and nine former Panthers will be tested on strength, speed and agility so that NFL and other professional football scouts can see if they have what it takes to play at the next level. Panther Digest will be there to file a report with the results.

Spring football practice begins Tuesday afternoon and runs through the annual Blue-Gold scrimmage April 19 at 6 p.m. at Heinz Field, and this Pittsburgh team has a chance to be more exciting than any under fourth-year head coach Dave Wannstedt. Panthers Digest will be at all 15 practices and the spring game.

Practice reports will be provided for subscribers, along with updates on all the position battles -- in particular at quarterback and on the offensive line -- and a depth chart will be put together. The latter likely will change throughout the spring, but that's what these practices are all about.

You can access here to securely order your subscription on-line.

Also, don't hesitate to suggest something that you might want to hear about coming out of spring drills that you haven't gotten from Panther Digest in the past. Sure, we get paid by Scout.com, but we work for you guys.

On the recruiting front, Pitt already has made inroads with some tremendous prospects for its 2009 class, and Panther Digest will have numerous reports for our subscribers on all of them. After the first couple weeks in spring practice, Pitt will hold a blue-chip recruiting day for all the top-level prospects, and Panther Digest will get the scoop on that as well.

Stories will also be provided from the recent passing camp in Akron, Ohio, and don't forget the Scout.com Combine March 30 at the UPMC Sports Complex. A star-studded cast of characters should be there for that.

So, as Bob likes to say, buckle up and enjoy the ride. If you're not a Panther Digest subscriber, now's the time to get on board. And if you do subscribe, it's a great time to renew with a full one-year membership. Things are going to be jumping around here, so I just might have to put down my drink and type with two hands.

To all Panthers fans and Panther Digest readers, thanks for your support in the past, and here's to a bright future with Pitt athletics and Panther Digest.

All the best,
