The Pittsburgh Panthers, who are coming off a program-best Sweet 16 season, will host Cincinnati, DePaul, Marquette, Notre Dame, St. John's, USF and Villanova in addition to West Virginia. The Panthers will have a competitive home schedule as Marquette claimed the 2008 WNIT title, while Notre Dame also advanced to the Sweet 16 and DePaul and West Virginia were NCAA Tournament teams.
Pitt will travel to Connecticut, Georgetown, Louisville, Providence, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Syracuse and West Virginia. Last season, Connecticut advanced to the Final Four, defeating Rutgers in the quarterfinals, while Louisville advanced to the Sweet 16 and Syracuse was an NCAA Tournament team.

In the end of the year USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll, Pitt held a No. 16 ranking for its first postsesason ranking in school history.
