Panthers Target Taylor

The Pitt Panthers got off to a great start to their recruiting class when they landed four-star wing Lamar Patterson. Now, the next priority is an athletic power forward. The Pantherdigest.com talks to the top option on their board.

The Pittsburgh coaching staff sought an athletic forward in their 2008 recruiting class to add to the mix with wide bodies DeJuan Blair and Gary McGhee. After striking out with Eloy Vargas and Kevin Jones in heated recruiting battles, the Panthers are now searching for their answer in the 2009 class. The top player on their wish list seems to be five-star power forward Dante Taylor from Fort Washington, Md.

As a junior, Taylor averaged 19 points and 11 rebounds while starring at National Christian Academy.

With offers from the likes of Pitt, Maryland, UConn, West Virginia and Miami, there appears to be some stiff competition to land his services.

But, do any of these teams stand out from the pack?

"I'm focused on all of the schools on my list. They all have the same standing. Right now I don't have any favorites, I'm wide open and I'm taking my time" Taylor said.

Taylor stated that Pitt visualizes him as a face up power forward on their team. He actually had the opportunity to play in the Peterson Events Center for Team Melo at the Pitt Jam Fest. He had this to say about Pitt and his experience at the Jam Fest.

"They have a good school just like the other teams on my list," Taylor said. "I liked playing in their arena, it was really nice".

Taylor is just focused on playing on his AAU team this summer and doesn't have any plans yet As far what visits he will take, but the Pitt Panthers hope to be one of them.
