Pitt's Specialist Camp

The Pitt football camps continued Thursday with the one-day specialist version that included place-kickers, punters and long-snappers.

There were about 50 participants at the Pittsburgh camp, about the same as last year, which is when about a half-dozen athletes earned scholarship offers shortly after the event that was run again by Jamie Kohl from Kohl's Kicking Camps. Kohl was a kicker at Iowa State and has run the camp for 10 years.

Cody Crosby from Eisenhower HS in Russell, Pa. gets some distance on his kicks.

Drake Greer from Bishop Canevin HS in Pittsburgh takes a break during a kickoff drill.

Greer was a finalist in the long-distance field-goal kicking contest.

It was a long day for Pitt place-kicker Kevin Harper and punter-kicker Dan Hutchins.

John Carpenter from Allegany High School in Cumberland, Md. booms a field goal from long range with Pitt secondary coach Jeff Hafley as the designated holder.

Jamie Kohl evaluates the competition.

Logan Cook from St. Clairsville, Ohio High School

Cook drives the ball in the kickoff drill.

This one goes just inside the uprights.

This straight-on kicker, nicknamed the Missile, hit the crossbar from 55 yards.

This one just fell short as well. Must have been a bad hold by Hafley.
