Pittsburgh added a third day this year, and that paid off as more than 200 campers attended each session.
Pitt OL coach Tony Wise works with Matt Williams from Cardinal O'Hara High School in Springfield, Pa. and Matt Sasson from Fox Chapel, Pa. HS.
Big Andre Monroe from St. John's College HS in Washington, D.C. worked hard with hope of getting a Pitt offer.
Charles Tilman from Dunbar HS in Washington, D.C.
Anthony Aloisi from Cherokee, N.J. HS and Chris Elkins from Beaver Falls, Pa. HS square off.
Brandon Clemmons (2011) from Delaware Valley HS in Philadelphia was so impressive that Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt gave him a verbal offer, but the Panthers can't put it in writing until after Sept. 1.
Cody Crosby from Eisenhower HS in Russell, Pa., who also is the team's PK and punter, fires off a pass while Aliquippa, Pa. HS QB Rasheem Jones awaits his turn.
Crosby cuts one loose in the long-range passing drill.
The DL in camp went through an extensive agility drill.
Another DL goes through the paces.
Some had a tougher time than others.
But some of the big guys could really move.
Pitt DL coach Greg Gattuso, and his counterpart on the Panthers OL, Tony Wise, line up combatants for the Sumo drill.
The competition was hot and heavy from the outset.
Technique is crucial in the Sumo drill, but superior strength doesn't hurt, either.
It's basically hand-to-hand combat with no weapons.
A solid wrestling background wouldn't hurt, either.
Gattuso shows how it's done.
Patrick Mahoney from Greensburg, Pa. Central Catholic HS squares off against Robert Hildebrand from Lee's Summit, Mo. North HS. Both are 2011 LM prospects.
Another recruit from the Class of 2011, QB Matt Johnson from Bishop McDevitt HS in Harrisburg, Pa.
Michael Reilly from Old Tappan, N.J. HS opened some eyes just with his size.
Reilly gets a little extra tutoring.
A.J. Firestone from Mercersburg, Pa. Academy starred in the punting and field-goal kicking camp before competing as a lineman the next day.
Aliquippa QB Rasheem Jones follows through for the coaches.
Coach Wise attempts to get a point across to Fox Chapel's Matt Sasson.
Tony Wise had a quick whistle all weekend.
Rashaun Smith from Bridgeton, N.J. HS came in early with his mom to take an unofficial visit to Pitt, and the two got to meet Panthers coach Dave Wannstedt. Smith, who Pitt is considering offering, worked out on the final day.
Pitt's recruiting camp season concludes with the team 7-on-7 passing competition Saturday and Sunday.
