Nova Picks Pitt

For those waiting for Pitt's 2011 recruiting class to make a splash, look no further. The Panthers got a verbal commitment Wednesday from Gary Nova, quarterback from Don Bosco Prep.

Don Bosco Prep athletic director and assistant coach Nunzio Campanile confirmed with Panther Digest that Nova has committed to Pitt, followed by Nova, who confirmed via text message.

"Yeah, it's official," Gary Nova said, via text.

The Ironmen completed a 12-0 season in 2009, and were heralded as the nation's number-one high school program from several publications. As a junior, Nova threw for over 1,600 yards, along with 23 touchdown passes and just three interceptions.

Nova is reunited with former Bosco teammates Brandon Sacco and Bryan Murphy, who signed with Pitt as part of its 2010 recruiting class. In addition to building even more depth at a stronger position, Nova's commitment continues an impressive roll in New Jersey that has landed players such as Dion Lewis, Ray Graham and T.J. Clemmings, over the last two recruiting classes.

Stay tuned to Panther Digest for more on Nova's commitment.
