Alston Becomes Number Four

Erial (NJ) Timber Creek Regional linebacker Quinton Alston came in for a quick unofficial to Pittsburgh this weekend, and he did not hesitate when letting the Panthers know where they stand.

The 6-1, 215-pound linebacker gave the Panthers a verbal commitment on Saturday, the second New

Jersey prospect to commit to the 2011 class, and the Panthers' first linebacker true linebacker of the class.

Alston's commitment is a big one for the Panthers, not only in extending its New Jersey ties, but because of coming in at a position of need. He can play either outside linebacker or inside for the Panthers.

Choosing the Panthers among over 20 offers, Alston said in recent weeks he was impressed with newly hired linebackers coach Bernard Clark; his resume, the relationship with his players and the intensity he brings to the position.

Stay tuned for more updates from Alston throughout the day.
