Olack Becomes Lucky Number Seven

The Pitt coaching staff wasn't done taking verbal commitments on Friday. After Bill Belton‘s big announcement, 6-3, 200-pound receiver Justin Olack out of Massillon (OH) Washington High School, became verbal commit number seven. He called the coaching staff late Friday afternoon to deliver the good news.

Olack chose the Panthers over offers from Toledo, Miami (OH), Indiana and Ball State. As a junior, he caught 49 catches for 765 yards and three touchdowns. Olack, obviously by his height and weight listed, provides a nice counterpart for the ultra-athlete Bill Belton.

"Yeah, I'm really excited," Olack said of his decision to commit to the Panthers. "I love the coaches there. I took a tour of the campus, and I love the campus. Pitt football is great."

Olack's original plans for choosing a school, did not include a verbal commitment on June 11.

"I was actually going to wait for the season," Olack added. "I felt Pitt was the right fit for me. I'm glad I chose right now. I like all the coaches, their facilities are great, and of course, they share everything with the Pittsburgh Steelers. That's an experience."

He also got word that Belton committed earlier in the day. He got that news through a text message from fellow 2011 commit, Quinton Alston.

"I heard another receiver committed today, then I don't know how (Alston) got my number, but he texted me, and said, ‘Welcome to the family,'" Olack said. "I'm definitely excited."

Olack was named second-team all-state as a junior at receiver, and was also a first-team all-region selection, playing in Ohio's largest classification. Additionally, he was selected first-team all-northeast Ohio.

Already in his prep career, he has competed against 2010 Pitt signee Mark Myers, as well as Pitt kicker Kevin Harper, originally from Mentor, Ohio. Olack looks forward to catching passes from Myers now, instead of having to face him.

"I played against Mark Myers, he's definitely good," Olack said. "I'm just looking forward to coming to Pitt."
