Pitts Becomes Number Eight

For the third time in four years a top WPIAL standout has committed to Pitt during their annual passing camp.

Woodland Hills athlete Lafayette Pitts wasted little time giving Pitt his verbal commitment. The 5-11, 175-pound standout committed to the Panthers Saturday morning after his team's second scrimmage of the day.

Pitts chose the Panthers over such offers as Illinois, West Virginia and Iowa.

As a junior, Pitts rushed for a touchdown, caught three touchdowns, returned one for a kickoff and returned six punts for touchdowns. He was a first-team all-conference selection as well. This year, he assumes the starting running back job from Syracuse signee Dom Timbers, which should allow for even greater numbers
