Moon standout nose guard, A.Q. Shipley

Coraopolis (PA)-- Moon two-way standout A.Q. Shipley is at the top of his game and several big-time division 1A programs have already taken notice of his talent.

The 6-foot-3 275-pound first team all-state nose guard has been mailed official offers from Penn State, Pitt, Michigan State, Syracuse, Virginia, and North Carolina.
(3/11) Honors and Statistics Added

Shipley grew up a fan of the local schools (Penn State and Pitt).

"I have been to Penn State at least seven times," Shipley said. "I like their country campus. Everyone there talks nothing but Penn State. I kind of like the fact that there is no pro team there. I can't remember the amount of times that I have been to Pitt, but it's been a bunch. My sister attends school there. I like their coaches, especially coach Junko. Pitt has new facilities which are unreal."

Despite growing up a fan of the Nittany Lions and Panthers, Shipley remains open to recruitment. However, he did admit that he wouldn't mind staying in the Big 10/Big East Region so his parents can watch him play.

Shipley, who projects himself as a nose guard in college, explained to Pitt Insider why he excels in the prep ranks.

"My strengths are my leverage and quickness," he said. "I play low and get underneath the taller guys. I also have very good leg strength."

Shipley, who is an excellent student in the classroom (3.4 GPA), recorded 70 tackles, 17 tackles for a loss, and six sacks as a junior. On offense he racked up over 98 pancake blocks.
