Marcius to decide future plans next week

Sandi Marcius will meet with the Purdue coaching staff early next year, and the forward will then decide his future plans, a source told Boiler Sports Report.

Sandi Marcius could be released from his Purdue scholarship as soon as early next week. The senior forward is set to meet with Purdue coaches and discuss his future plans, a source told Boiler Sports Report.

A reserve player last season, Marcius has informed the Purdue coaching staff he intends to use his fifth year of eligibility elsewhere. However, the forward is being encouraged to stay.

Purdue head coach Matt Painter is not in West Lafayette this weekend, but will speak with Marcius next week.

Marcius, a 6-foot-9, 268-pound forward, averaged 3.3 points per game while playing sparing minutes. He filled in for the inconsistent A.J. Hammons this season and made his biggest impact toward the end of the year.

Marcius is a native of Nedelisce, Croatia, and played his high-school basketball at La Lumiere (Ind.) Academy.
