Purdue lands its second 2014 pledge

Purdue has its second commitment for the 2014 class. Receiver Gregory Phillips became the Boilermakers' newest addition to the group, joining fellow wideout Trae Hart.

Purdue has added its second pledge for the 2014 recruiting class. Gregory Phillips, a wide receiver from Arabia Mountain (Ga.) High School, gave the Boilermakers his verbal commitment on Friday.

Phillips, a 6-foot-1, 181-pound prospect, only had one other FBS scholarship offer, coming from Iowa State. He received an offer from the Boilermakers on Thursday morning.

Upon receiving the scholarship offer, Phillips tweeted: "Rejoicing over here!!!!!! Purdue University just offered me!!! #26!! Oh my gosh!!!!! Thank you jesus!!!"

Phillips is the Boilermakers' second verbal commitment for the 2014 class, joining three-star receiver Trae Hart.

While Phillips appears locked in with Purdue, his fellow 2014 commit, Hart, isn't making his pledge seem so strong.

"I'm a Purdue commit, that's where I'm at," said Hart to Scout.com on Thursday. "I would listen if other schools came in and talked to me. I would listen to them. But I'm at Purdue right now."

Boiler Sports Report will provide a full update on Purdue's second verbal commitment, Gregory Phillips.
