Purdue lands top tackle Ward

Three-star tackle Denzel Ward gave his verbal pledge to Purdue on Friday morning, picking the Boilermakers over Florida, Ohio State, Oklahoma and more.

Purdue landed its biggest prospect yet, both literally and figuratively. Denzel Ward, a 6-foot-9, 315-pound tackle, gave his verbal pledge to the Boilermakers on Friday morning.

Ward, rated a three-star prospect, picked Purdue over a long list of offers which included Florida, Ohio State, Oklahoma and others. He is a Chicago native who transferred to IMG Academy in Brandenton, Florida, moving just this past winter.

Ward originally gave his verbal commitment to Michigan before dropping that pledge in January. The new Purdue coaching staff made Ward a priority immediately.

Just one week ago, Ward toured Purdue and was sold on the school, even though the visit had some hiccups. His train was delayed each way to Chicago and his appearance in Purdue'S Friday night camp ended early when he was poked in the eye, forcing medical attention.

In the end, Ward was sold on Purdue and made his pledge official on Friday. The Boilermakers landed a big prospect.

Boiler Sports Report hopes to have a full story on Denzel Ward's commitment to Purdue.
