Emma's Fearless Predictions: Week Two

FOX Sports Next's Chris Emma puts his unblemished record on the line for week two, picking the most interesting eight games of the weekend.

It's that week of the season where everybody plays a sleepy FCS team. I was so desperate for games, I threw down a pick for Indiana and Navy.

Why should you care about these picks? Why, because I was flawless last week—a perfect 8-0! If only that actually mattered for something. I give you my week two picks, which better be nothing short of perfect.

Emma's record: 8-0

No. 14 Notre Dame at No. 17 Michigan (-4)

CE: Notre Dame 28, Michigan 24

-- Here comes another classic game between the Fighting Irish and Wolverines. Tommy Rees gets it done in the Big House and Notre Dame enters Ross-Ade Stadium next week with a 2-0 record.

Syracuse at No. 18 Northwestern (-16.5)

CE: Northwestern 38, Syracuse 14

-- Northwestern has a better journalism school and better football team. The Cats take down another major-conference opponent.

Cincinnati (-8.5) at Illinois

CE: Cincinnati 31, Illinois 20

-- Maybe this Illinois team isn't as dreadful as last season. But Cincinnati is pretty good, as Boilermaker fans would admit. The Bearcats knock off another Big Ten team.

Navy at Indiana(-13.5)

CE: Navy 34, Indiana 30

-- The Midshipmen will dominate time of possession—as they so often do—and knock off Indiana in Bloomington. A bold prediction. I can say with greater certainty that the Hooisers won't hang 73 on the board this game.

No. 12 Florida (-3) at Miami

CE: Florida 27, Miami 21

-- Miami is much improved from years past, but Florida is just too talented. Jeff Driskel will have a big game for the Gators.

No. 11 South Carolina at No. 6 Georgia (-3.5)

CE: Georgia 31, South Carolina 24

-- The SEC beats itself up each year. Here, you'll see that again. The Bulldogs will rebound from last week's loss and take down the Gamecocks.

Emma's record picking Purdue games: 1-0

Indiana State at Purdue(-17)

CE: Purdue 31, Indiana State 17

-- This won't be one for style points, but all that matters for Purdue is getting Darrell Hazell his first win. That will happen on Saturday at Ross-Ade Stadium. The Boilermakers will pull away from Indiana State and get a win.

Quarterback Rob Henry—now a Twitter celebrity—will rebound from his rough showing against Cincinnati, throwing for 300 yards and three touchdowns. Look for another big game from freshman running back Dalyn Dawkins, who's seeing more reps with the first-team offense. The Boilers will even up their record on Saturday.

Baltimore at Denver (-7.5)

CE: Denver: 27, Baltimore 20

-- A friendly reminder that nobody else cares about your fantasy team. Peyton Manning and the Broncos will beat Baltimore to start the season right.
