Taylor commits to Purdue

Purdue got its guy, with forward Jacquil Taylor committing on Monday.

The hunt for a big man is over. Purdue landed forward Jacquil Taylor, a source confirmed to Boiler Sports Report.

Taylor, a 6-foot-9 forward who checks in just over 200 pounds, picked Purdue over offers from Maryland, Providence and others. He visited West Lafayette on Saturday.

A Boston-area native and prospect from the Beaver County Day School, Taylor's recruitment saw great interest from the east coast. However, Matt Painter and the Boilermakers began to show interest as their search for a big man was forced to expand.

Purdue targeted several other big men for this class, but had bad luck in looking for A.J. Hammons' likely replacement. Taylor is the answer for the Boilermakers.

Now, Purdue's class has three members, with Taylor joining Dakota Mathias and Vince Edwards.

Boiler Sports Report will offer more on this story.
