Bentley will be a Boilermaker

Three-star linebacker JaWhaun Bentley committed to Purdue.

The first big splash of Purdue's recruiting weekend has been made. Three-star linebacker JaWhaun Bentley gave the Boilermakers his verbal pledge on Saturday.

This is the first of what's anticipated to be several verbal commitments for a weekend where Purdue is hosting more than 20 prospects on official visits.

Bentley, a 6-foot-2, 220-pound prospect from Dematha (MD) Catholic High School, also held offers from Iowa, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, Virginia, West Virginia and others.

Bentley is the Boilermakers' 11th commitment for Darrell Hazell's first full class. He has the abilities to play immediately next season, something Purdue needs.

There are more commitments expected to come. For the latest on the Boilermakers' big weekend, stay on the BSR Fort Mollenkopf insider board.
