Richards arrested for DWI

Purdue safety Taylor Richards was arrested on Saturday for DWI.

Purdue junior safety Taylor Richards was arrested on Saturday evening for operating while intoxicated and minor consumption, according to Rob Hughes of WLFI.

Richards, a Lake Mary, Fla. native, played in 12 games in 2013. Purdue released a statement confirming the news of Richrds' arrest.

"Purdue head football coach Darrell Hazell is aware of last Saturday's arrest of Taylor Richards," a Purdue spokesperson said in a statement. "Hazell takes such matters seriously and respects that there is an ongoing legal process that he will allow to evolve before determining any possible internal disciplinary action."

Richards is the third Boilermaker player arrested since Hazell became Purdue's head coach. In October, receivers B.J. Knauf and Jordan Woods were arrested for theft and received a two-game suspension.

No suspension from Richards' arrest is expected until the legal process is completed.
