Fields picks West Virginia over Purdue

Three-star defensive lineman Jaleel Fields committed to West Virginia, picking it over Purdue and Cincinnati.

Purdue's recruiting winning streak hit a snag on Wednesday morning, with three-star defensive lineman Jaleel Fields picking West Virginia over offers from the Boilermakers and Cincinnati.

Fields, a standout at Aliquippa (Pa.) High School, never visited Purdue's campus, but still put the Boilermakers in his final three.

Fields would have been Purdue's fourth commitment in the past five days. The Boilermakers have received verbal pledges from linebacker JaWhaun Bentley, defensive tackle Keiwan Jones and cornerback Brandon Roberts.

However, the Boilermakers' luck could change tonight when three-star defensive end Renell Wren is expected to make his verbal commitment, picking between Purdue and Arizona State.
