Boilermakers add a running back

Georgia running back Dexter Knox is the latest Purdue commit.

At just 5-foot-9 and 200 pounds, Dexter Knox wouldn't appear to be a bruising runner. But the running back is a bowling ball, and he'll be taking it to West Lafayette next fall.

Knox, a rising name at Creekside (Ga.) High School, gave Purdue his verbal commitment on Tuesday, the second of the day. Cornerback Chris Jones flipped his commitment from South Florida to Purdue.

Knox had a fairly quiet recruitment, but began to blow up toward the end of his senior year. A five-touchdown performance in the Georgia 5A title game put him on many schools' radars.

Purdue running backs coach Jafar Williams led a strong recruitment of the Peach State standout and it paid off on Tuesday.

Boiler Sports Report hopes to have Knox's comments added to a full story.
