Wiley is Purdue's third pledge of the day

California defensive back LaDarius Wiley gave the Boilermakers his pledge, the third of the day for Purdue.

With the run Darrell Hazell and his coaches are on, perhaps they should pick up lottery tickets. Purdue added its third verbal commit of Tuesday and eighth in the last 10 days.

Ladarius Wiley, a three-star cornerback, gave the Boilermakers his pledge on Tuesday evening, joining cornerback Chris Jones and running back Dexter Knox as the day's commits.

Wiley, a Los Angeles native, picked Purdue over offers from Fresno State, Nevada, Northwestern and others.

Wiley is Purdue's sixth defensive back commit for the 2014 class. Coincidence or not, each of them stands above 6-feet tall.

Purdue's recruiting class has now reached 18 members, with three or four spots left open.

Chris Emma has covered recruiting, college athletics and professional baseball for FOX Sports Next since 2009. Emma covered the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Northwestern Wildcats, and currently covers the Purdue Boilermakers. A Chicago native, he resides in West Lafayette.
