Indiana O-Lineman Eyes Boilers

Mike Clevenger will be a four-year varsity member in 2002. He was named all-state as a junior and several schools stopped by his school during the May Evaluation period.

Mike Clevenger, a 6-foot-3, 290-pound, offensive lineman from Indianapolis (Warren Central) will be a prospect to watch in 2003.

Clevenger will be a three-year varsity starter and four-year varsity member in 2002. He's also a four-year varsity wrestler at the heavyweight position.

"I don't have an offer yet." Clevenger said. "Michigan, Purdue, Indiana and Tennessee all said they would call in September.

"My favorites are Indiana, Purdue, Tennessee, Michigan, Michigan State, Illinois and Wisconsin."

"I wasn't fully qualified during the May Evaluation period so a lot of schools were hesitant to make an offer. I'm a qualifier now and hopefully things will start happening for me."

Clevenger was named all-county in 2001. He's a pre-season all-state selection in 2002.

Coaches Comments --

Indianapolis (Warren Central) head coach Kevin Wright says he has an offensive lineman that should be highly recruited in 2002.

"My top prospect is Mike Clevenger." Wright said. "He's 6-foot-3, 292-pounds and he's just a dominant, imposing lineman.

"We run a Wing-T offense and Mike is just a force to be reckoned with. He's a hard worker and he's our leader up front. I think Mike projects as either a guard or center at the next level.

"Clemson was the first school in this month to see Mike. Tennessee, Notre Dame and Florida are just a few of the other schools that have been in.

"Mike (Clevenger) should be a full qualifier when it's all said and done. He started out slow in the classroom but now he's an honor roll student.

Clevenger is also a three-year letter winner in track and four-year varsity wrestler at the heavyweight class.
