Fincher says Yes to Purdue

Purdue received the verbal commitment of Michigan O-Lineman Nick Fincher today. The Boilermaker staff would love to sign at least three more prospects from Michigan in February.

Nick Fincher, a 6-foot-4, 275-pound, offensive lineman from Clinton Township (MI) Chippewa Valley will be one of the most sought after prospects in the Midwest this year.

Fincher will be a two-year varsity starter in 2002. He was named all-are by the Detroit Free Press and the Detroit News as a junior and he led his team to a state championship.

"Northwestern, Purdue, Duke and most of the MAC schools have offered me a scholarship." Fincher said.

"I pretty much have it narrowed down to Northwestern and Purdue. Both are equal right now, I don't have a leader."

Fincher camped at Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue and Northwestern this summer. He also letters in basketball. Nick carries a 3.2 GPA and scored 25 on his ACT.

August 14, 2002 – Nick Fincher verbally commits.

"I committed to Purdue today." Fincher said. "The coaching at Purdue is what I really liked. Coach (Brock) Spack was recruiting me and I got along with him very well.

"Purdue was everything that I was looking for in a school. Northwestern finished second and Duke was also in there."

Nick Fincher is a Midwest "Top 100" prospect. Fincher isn't the only Michigan prospect that the Boilermaker coaching staff hope to sign in February.

Doug Van Dyke (Marshall), Chris Patrick (Ithica) and Jerome Jackson (Saginaw) are all highly touted prospects that Purdue would love to ink on signing day.
