Purdue DE Target Picks MSU

Derrick Outlaw, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound, defensive end from Cassopolis, Michigan was offered a scholarship by Purdue but he's decided to stay closer to home.

"I chose Michigan State over Purdue because I just liked the school, the campus and the coaching staff more at Michigan State." Derrick Outlaw said.

"Purdue was the only other school to offer me a scholarship."

Outlaw is also an exceptional basketball player but football is where his bread is buttered so to speak.

Outlaw will be a two-year starter in 2002. "I just started playing football." Outlaw said. "I'm still learning the game but I feel I can play at a high level."

Derrick Outlaw was an all-area and all-conference selection as a junior. He carries a 3.0 GPA and scored 19 on his ACT.
