Boiler Up! Brewer Pledges Purdue

Andrew Brewer, a 6-foot-4, 253-pound, offensive lineman, from Cabell Madison high in Ona, West Virginia became Purdue's 2nd known verbal commitment in the Class of 2008. Brewer is a sleeper prospect being recruited by Boilermaker assistant coach Bill Legg.

"Purdue offered me a scholarship and I committed this past Sunday," Andrew Brewer told the Boiler Sports Report.

"Purdue was one of my favorite schools to begin with and once I got the offer and visited the campus, I knew it was the place for Me.

"Purdue offers a great balance of academics and athletics. I had a real good visit and I really enjoyed the spring game."

Brewer will be a three-year starter for Cabell Madison in 2007. Tennessee, Kentucky, Marshall, Illinois, Ohio State and others were recruiting Andrew before he gave the Boilermakers his verbal commitment..

We asked Brewer is he can talk about which position the Purdue coaches will ask him to play once he's in West Lafayette.

"Right now it looks like center," said Brewer. "I'm also being recruited as a defensive tackle. I also run a 4.7 40-yard dash. I saw on that I run a 5.2 and that's wrong, I run a 4.7"

How solid is Brewer's commitment to Purdue?

"I'm pretty solid with my commitment," Brewer explained.

"I plan on studying pharmacy or family medicine and Purdue has solid programs in those areas. Nothing is obviously done until February but I'm committed to Purdue."
