Two Schools Lead the Way

A prospect getting a lot of attention in the Chicagoland area is Oak Forest defensive end Mike Johns. The 6-foot-3, 240-pounder, plays with a high motor, he looks the part when seeing him in person and the service academies feel he'd be a good fit for their programs.

"Army and Air Force have offered me a scholarship," Mike Johns said.

"Purdue is my top school right now. If Stanford or Purdue offered me a scholarship before the start of the season, I'd have to think about making a commitment.

"Michigan State, Iowa, Army, Air Force and Northern Illinois are also my favorites. It's still early in the process and I'm getting mail from a lot of schools. I don't want to narrow anything down yet."

Johns will be a three-year varsity starter in 2007. Mike was brought up to the varsity as a freshman. This past season, Johns had 66 solo tackles and 12 sacks.

Johns plans on attending the combine this Saturday at the College of Du Page in suburban Chicago. He carries a 3.0 GPA in the classroom and scored a 23 on his ACT.
