Hagen Visits McKeon Friday

Purdue has a bye week and that means that the coaching staff will be hitting the recruiting trail this weekend. Mark Hagen will get and up close look at linebacker Cory McKeon.

"Our season was going fine until last Friday," said Naperville (Ill.) North head coach Larry McKeon.

"We played Wheaton North and they have some players. It was a hard hitting game and we were tied 7-7 at half time.

"I was impressed with Zach Ulrich. He just makes plays out there. We had them in 3rd and long situations more than once and Ulrich got them a first down.

"Of course Akim Millington is solid and I was impressed with Dareon Spencer. Spencer has great hands but I don't know if he's fast enough yet to be a big time receiver.

They (Wheaton North) used Spencer mostly as a tight end but I think he'll be a wide receiver in college. Somebody will pick him (Spencer) up, I'm sure of that."

McKeon is also the father of All-Midwest linebacker Cory McKeon. We asked coach McKeon what was new with Cory's recruitment.

"We don't have any official visits set up yet. Purdue is coming to school Friday because they have a bye this week. Coach (Mark) Hagen will be here and he's coming to our game Friday night as well.

"Wisconsin, Penn State and Boston College are in there. You really need to talk with Cory about schools. I don't want to leave anyone out." McKeon said.

Naperville North is off to a 2-1 start and they play West Chicago Friday night.
