Cathedral's Maci Pledges Purdue

Boilermaker assistant coach Mark Hagen is at it again. Hagen received a verbal commitment from Indianapolis sleeper Robert Maci yesterday. The 6-foot-4, 225-pounder, from Cathedral high helped lead his team to a state championship in 2006.

Robert Maci plays linebacker for Cathedral but his position in college looks to be defensive end. Maci is the 9th known commitment for the Boilermakers.

Maci will be a three-year starter for the Irish in 2007. He was an honorable mention all-state selection as a junior. Robert was one of the leading tacklers on his team as a junior and he also caused 4 fumbles and scored a touchdown.

Indiana and Ball State had also been recruiting Maci. Michigan State, Illinois and Kentucky were schools that Robert had been considering the past few months.

Purdue seemed to be a natural fit for Maci as both of his parents and one sister are graduates of the school. Robert has an older brother who graduated from Bowling Green and a younger sister currently at Dayton.

The Boiler Sports Report will be in Indianapolis this weekend and we'll be having a one-on-one conversation with Robert Maci.

Maci is coached by Jim O'Hara, he carries a 3.9 GPA in the classroom.
