Mighty Mikel Names Favorites

Champaign (Ill.) Centennial running back Mikel LeShoure (6-1, 225) is a Scout.com Midwest Hot 100 prospect. LeShoure has several scholarship offers and several other schools keeping close tabs. Go inside to see who LeShoure says are his current favorites and when he'll be making his verbal commitment.

"Illinois, Kansas, Northern Illinois, Missouri, Colorado and Boston College have all offered me a scholarship." Mikel LeShoure said.

"My favorites right now are all the schools that have offered as well as Florida and Purdue. I don't have a time-frame for making a commitment. I might make it during the season or maybe even after the season."

LeShoure was an all-state running back in 2006 after rushing for 2,500 yards and 30 touchdowns. LeShoure is as solid as they come and he is constantly in the weight-room but what does he say to the skeptics that say he'll never last in the Big Ten because of his straight up and down running style?

"I let people say whatever they want to say," said LeShoure. "It looks like I'm running straight up and down because of my size, I'm bigger than most running backs.

"I'm not going to lie, there are a couple of guys who have gotten some licks on me but what running back hasn't taken a few licks in their career. I try to dish out as much punishment as I get."

LeShoure compares his running style to that of Kansas City Chiefs star Larry Johnson. Mikel told us that he's entertaining the idea of graduating in December in order to enroll in the spring semester at the college of his choice but nothing has been set in stone.

LeShoure is also solid in the classroom carrying a 4.6 GPA and scoring a 20 on his ACT.
