Safety Has Offers; Names Favorites

A football prospect that's starting to get plenty of attention in Central Illinois is defensive back Austin Davis. The 6-foot, 195-pounder, from Normal Community is starting to rack up the scholarship offers as well receiving high interest from a number of D-1 programs.

"Eastern Illinois, Wyoming and Ball State are the three schools that have offered me a scholarship so far." Austin Davis told the Boiler Sports Report.

"Michigan State and Minnesota told me that they are really close to offering me a scholarship. They want to see some real, real early senior film. They want to see how I look in game situations."

Davis is big enough to play safety and athletic enough to play corner. Where do the college recruiters project him playing at the next level?

"I'm going to be recruited mostly as a safety." Davis said. "Free safety or strong safety. That's mostly what I'm hearing right now."

We asked Davis if he had a list of favorites he could share at this time.

"The three schools that have offered me," said Davis. "Eastern Illinois, Wyoming and Ball State, I also like Michigan State, Minnesota, Iowa and Purdue."

Austin Davis told the Boiler Sports Report that he plans on being patient with the recruiting process and that he doesn't plan on making a commitment until after his senior season.
