Illinois DB Names Favorites

Tommie Thomas, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound, defensive back, from Oak Lawn (Ill.) Richards, is one of the most sought after prospects in the Land of Lincoln. Thomas has the speed to play corner and the size to play safety. Thomas talks about his scholarship offers and names favorites.

"Purdue was my first scholarship offer," Tommie Thomas told the Boiler Sports Report.

"I also have offers from Kansas State, Cincinnati, Indiana, Illinois, Colorado, Akron and Ball State. I really haven't narrowed things down yet. I spent most of the summer playing basketball so I didn't get to do many visits.

"I did get to visit UCLA and USC when I was out in Los Angeles for a basketball tournament. My favorites right now are Purdue, Illinois, Colorado, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas State and Cincinnati.

"I don't have any of my official visits set up yet. I might get that stuff out of the way during the season because I want to play basketball this year."

Thomas is being recruited as a free safety and as a wide receiver. As a junior, Thomas had 10 interceptions and returned four of those pics back for 56, 45, 67 and 72 yard touchdowns.

As a receiver, Thomas had 405 yards receiving, averaging 27 yards per catch. He was an all-area and all-conference selection.
