"It came down to the education and the way they ran things, the campus, everything was so perfect there. The education was top notch and they have a program that I really want to study, building and construction management" an excited Foy told Boiler Sports Report. "It was just perfect for me. You don't want to think about the day football ends, but I was kind of happy that I have a backup."
While the university and academic support did enough of its own job selling Foy on his future as a Boilermaker, the football program held up its end of the bargain as well.
"Other than that, it was just the campus. And for football players they have the dorms, the workouts, and the stadium all right there for you. It was just perfect and seemed like the right fit."
While speculation may have been abound about the recruiting efforts that were going to be put forth with head coach Joe Tiller stepping down at the end of the season, it's nothing that affected Foy at all when it came time to make the crucial decision on his future.
"Yeah, I just met the new offensive line coach last week, and I know all the other coaches from previous visits. I talk to Coach Hope a lot."
In meeting with the new offensive line coach, Shawn Clark, discussions have been made as to whether Trevor will stay on the defensive side of the ball or switch his style to protecting the quarterback.
"We're going to see what happens, and it depends on how I develop, but I'm probably going to stay along the defensive line from what we've talked about. That's probably where I'm going to end up at… either at end or maybe even defensive tackle."
Up next on Foy's docket is another visit to West Lafayette in the next few weeks. It should prove to be a move that will help gel and integrate the verbal commitments for the 2009 class.
"As of other commitments, I haven't met any of them. But Coach Hope has a plan and has been talking about getting all the committed guys to come up in a few weeks and hang out with the team."
After that, the most important thing is strapping on the black and gold in the summer and getting ready for the next football season, something Foy is ready to start right now.
"I want to get down there as soon as possible. I'm going to finish out my senior year, and football players are allowed to come in, I think, July so I'm going to get up there and I can't wait."
