Marve Makes it Official

Purdue received a big addition this week when Miami-FL quarterback Robert Marve announced he would become a Boilermaker.

Purdue will have a new starting quarterback this year. One of the big storylines for the Boilermakers' 2009 season is replacing Curtis Painter.

Robert Marve is not a candidate for the spot, not for this year at least. The Miami-FL transfer must sit out this year due to NCAA rules, but as head coach Danny Hope said in an official release on Friday, that does not remove any excitement from the new addition.

"We are really excited to have a player the caliber of Robert become a Boilermaker," Hope said, "We became a better football program today."

The 6'1, 210-lb Marve, a former Florida Mr. Football in high school, started 11 games for the Hurricanes last season. In those contests, he passed for 1,293 yards and nine touchdowns while completing 116 of 213 passes.
